I recently completed a website for Orchard Group Builders. They are a medium size construction company that is based in Northern Illinois, Kane County. The company owner had tried to design a website himself but was found it to difficult, so he contacted us, Cheap Web Design in Elgin. I told the owner, Marty; my plan was to get his new website on the first page of Google, Yahoo, and MSN using certain keywords, and keyword phrases that pertain to his business. I emphasized how the content would drive his website in regards to SEO tactics, he seemed to understand. In the following days, asked I Marty about his business because I needed the necessary content we had discussed. All Marty could muster up was literally three sentences, and a bunch of pictures from his failed website. I took the scant content, and went to work. I had to research some of his competitors to grab, and rearrange their content to add to his site. I cleaned up his pictures with PhotoShop, placed them on their respective pages, and added what little content I had while sprinkling in keywords researched with the Google Keyword Tool. I did some basic SEO in regards to anchor text for all pages, I applied keywords to the image alts, put in a few H1 keyword tags, and the basics for the Meta and Title tags. I completed this last Sunday, and put the new website online replacing his old stuff. By the way, his domain was ½ year old; it had maybe 4 In Links, and had a Google Page Rank of Zero. I added his link to my PR3 website, (www.cheapwebdesigninelgin.com) ,and added his link to this PR4 Blog. On Monday, I checked his url in Yahoo Site Explorer, it was not there, so I submitted it to Yahoo. On Thursday, I was bored at work so I went to a SEO website that has a Keyword Rank Checker. I entered in the url, www.orchardgroupbuilders.com, and the key phrase Kane County remodeling. Much to my chagrin, it turn up on the first page of Yahoo, so I tried other key phrases, Kane County horse stalls, Kane County Steel Metal Frame Buildings, Kane County Post Frame Buildings and there they were, page 1 on Yahoo. I was real excited, within a week I was getting results. I emailed Marty, and talked to him on the phone, I don’t really think he understood that we had made a huge leap in the right direction, but it made me happy.
In conclusion, there is still work to be done, for example Directory Submission, adding the link to Yahoo Local Business, and fine tuning his content, just to name a few. And the message is, do your basic SEO, don’t be lazy, get a start, see where it takes you, and build from there. Good luck with your SEO, and keep your Content Keyword Rich. Adios.
